Outdoor Spaces

Leadership programs take advantage of the Centre's mountain location.

Located in Canada’s first national park and a UNESCO world heritage site, our beautiful mountain location is key to the Centre’s success. To respect our place in the national park and to demonstrate environmental leadership, Banff Centre Revitalization will seek LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for new buildings, strengthen the pedestrian pathway system and improve way finding, reduce areas dedicated to roads and paving, restore natural landscapes, and protect wildlife corridors. Informal clearings planted with native meadow grasses will allow for outdoor gatherings throughout the campus.

A grassed amphitheatre suitable for performances and outdoor learning activities will be created at the foot of the Kinnear Centre, oriented to maximize views of the Bow Valley mountain ranges and sky.

“There’s no question about the role that nature plays at Banff. Because you are right up against the earth. It reminds you of what is really important.”
