Lesley Robertson

Founding violist for the St. Lawrence String Quartet (SLSQ), winners of the 1992 BISQC, Lesley Robertson is in her 18th season with this dynamic foursome. Ensemble-in-residence at Stanford University since 1998, the SLSQ’s performing and teaching career has taken them, in last year alone, throughout North and South America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Korea. They have collaborated with artists including Osvaldo Golijov, R. Murray Shafer, Christos Hatzis, the Pilobolus Dance Company, the Emerson Quartet, and Menahem Pressler. Under exclusive contract with EMI Classics, the SLSQ’s recordings have received notable acclaim including Canada’s Juno Award, Germany’s Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, and two Grammy nominations. Robertson is a native of Edmonton, Canada, and a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, the Juilliard School, and the University of British Columbia. As a student, she was a regular participant at The Banff Centre and has since returned as a visiting artist with other members of the SLSQ.
