September 1, 2007 — Competition director Barry Shiffman announced that the Ariel String Quartet (Israel / U.S.), the TinAlley String Quartet (Australia), the Tokai Quartet (Canada), and the Zemlinsky Quartet (Czech Republic) have been chosen as finalists in the 2007 BISQC.

Young quartet to present pop-up performances on bike trails, mountaintops, town squares
July 4, 2007 — Visitors to Banff National Park may get an unexpected diversion in August — a little chamber music mixed with their shopping, dining, hiking, and sightseeing. As part of the ninth Banff International String Quartet Competition (BISQC), the Houston-based Jasper Quartet will be in Banff for two weeks, performing at pop-up locations in and around the town.

Congratulations Jupiter String Quartet
January
15, 2005 —The Jupiter String Quartet were one of the 2005 first-prize winners of the prestigious
Young Concert Artists International Auditions, which were awarded on January 15, 2005. The quartet was selected out of 300 applicants hailing from 43 countries, and were awarded a $5,000 career development grant, debut recitals in the 2005–2006 Young Concert Artists Series in New York and Washington, D.C., as well as other support.

An interesting fact: The Jupiter String Quartet is the second string quartet to have won both BISQC and the Young Concert Artists International Audition in the same year — the first was the St. Lawrence String Quartet in 1992.
