September 1, 2007 — Competition director Barry Shiffman announced that the Ariel String Quartet (Israel / U.S.), the TinAlley String Quartet (Australia), the Tokai Quartet (Canada), and the Zemlinsky Quartet (Czech Republic) have been chosen as finalists in the 2007 BISQC. Read more

August 15, 2007 — As another scenic summer in the Canadian Rockies begins to wind down, organizers are making final preparations to bring the world’s finest young string quartets to this mountain location during the last week in August for the 2007 Banff International String Quartet Competition (BISQC). Young quartet to present pop-up performances on bike trails, mountaintops, town squares

July 4, 2007 — Visitors to Banff National Park may get an unexpected diversion in August — a little chamber music mixed with their shopping, dining, hiking, and sightseeing. As part of the ninth Banff International String Quartet Competition (BISQC), the Houston-based Jasper Quartet will be in Banff for two weeks, performing at pop-up locations in and around the town. April 26, 2007 — Today, The Banff Centre announced the ten quartets chosen to participate in the 2007 competition, an international roster of accomplished young musicians. Read more

March 14, 2007 — The Banff Centre is pleased to announce the creation of the Melba and Orville Rollefson Residency for a developing string quartet at the 2007 Banff International String Quartet Competition. Read more

Jupiter String Quartet wins Cleveland Quartet Award

October 31, 2006 - Chamber Music America has announced the Jupiter String Quartet as the sixth recipients of the Cleveland Quartet Award, honouring a promising young string quartet. Read more - (download pdf)

August 8, 2006 —The Chamber Music Society is pleased to announce the appointment of the Escher String Quartet and the Jupiter String Quartet to its prestigious CMS Two program. Read more

Effective immediately, Shiffman will join The Banff Centre as a consultant, providing strategic planning and program development for all music programs, including BISQC. Congratulations Jupiter String Quartet

January 15, 2005 —The Jupiter String Quartet were one of the 2005 first-prize winners of the prestigious Young Concert Artists International Auditions, which were awarded on January 15, 2005. The quartet was selected out of 300 applicants hailing from 43 countries, and were awarded a $5,000 career development grant, debut recitals in the 2005–2006 Young Concert Artists Series in New York and Washington, D.C., as well as other support. An interesting fact: The Jupiter String Quartet is the second string quartet to have won both BISQC and the Young Concert Artists International Audition in the same year — the first was the St. Lawrence String Quartet in 1992.
