Mobile Lab

The Mobile Lab supports co-productions and hosts visiting researchers. With content, technical, and engineering innovations, the Mobile Lab applies social science research methods to investigate patterns of mobile media use.

The highly contextual nature of mobile content/devices creates new opportunities and challenges for artists and designers, while the technological challenges of developing mobile applications stretches capabilities and communities of use. The Mobile Lab supports the exploration of these challenges and opportunities providing a stimulating and supportive environment for research and development.

This Lab brings together facilities for content production, software development, electronics prototyping, and small-scale 3D prototyping. Test equipment enables out-of studio prototyping and a variety of wireless networking and micro-electronics manufacturing (for small volume projects), providing for the comprehensive development of rich, mobile experiences.
