This little-known country in the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula is a country of high mountain villages, with a coast on the Arabian Sea, and a vast sand desert that once teemed with camel caravans on ancient trade routes.

As part of The Banff Centre’s 75th anniversary celebration, the Walter Phillips Gallery presents an exhibition of Barbara Spohr’s photographs that have recently been donated to The Banff Centre Collection from the Spohr family. The photographs, produced from 1978 to 1986, reflect the intimate nature of her work and its constant ability to reveal captivating moments in daily life that quietly shift from prosaic to the essential.
