Come have fun, dance and enjoy the music with family, friends and music lovers as we celebrate Canada with a special out-door concert of Canadian world music featuring the compelling, funky African grooves of three-time Juno award winner Alpha Yaya Diallo with his band the Bafing Riders and the mesmerizing, blissful folk songs and music of Juno award winning, Indo-Canadian singer Kiran Ahluwalia and her band.

Guitarist and singer Alpha Yaya Diallo has earned a matchless reputation internationally for the excellence of his musicianship and the excitement of his live shows. His dexterous acoustic and electric guitar playing, with its fluid lines and compelling grooves, places him in the front ranks of African musicians. While a purveyor of his West African musical heritage, he also infuses contemporary blues, jazz, and other influences to create a unique, beautiful and sophisticated music. Whether for his own work or involvement with the African Guitar Summit, Alpha has become one of the hottest acts on the world music scene and, along with his band and dancers, he creates captivating music equally appealing to the head, the heart, and the feet.

Indo-Canadian singer Kiran Ahluwalia is a true woman of the world. Born in India and growing up in Toronto, she makes musical choices reflecting her personal duality. Kiran specializes in singing Indian and Punjabi folk songs accompanied by her band on guitar, harmonium, and tabla. However, while respecting the traditions of these songs, Kiran is re-inventing this ancient art form adding cross-cultural influences, splashy acoustic guitars, and earthy bass lines to create a vibrant 21st-century sound.
