Ballet British Columbia is consistently acknowledged by audiences, critics and the artistic community as an innovative, creative and risk-taking company. For this performance, the company will feature Agnes de Mille’s truly classic American ballet Rodeo. Danced to the folk inspired music of Aaron Copland, the piece follows the adventures of a tomboyish cowgirl, hopelessly in love with the head wrangler at the Burnt Ranch. This energetic, comedic ballet is filled with tap dancing, square dancing, innocence and romance, and a great story that will delight audiences of all ages. The program will also include Balanchine’s classical piece Allegro Brillante, set to the music of Tchaikovsky and Lar Lubovitch’s modern work Elemental Brubeck, set to the music of jazz great Dave Brubeck.
