Cartoon mayhem comes to life with ridiculous props and pyrotechnic pandemonium as two enthusiastic but bumbling fans take over the Cirkus Inferno stage. When the real performance is delayed, the pair, Lucky and Lucy, dressed in classic vaudevillian costumes including flat hats, baggy trousers and fat petticoats, climb on stage to test the dangerous props. Soon Lucky is wrestling with a ferocious, fire-breathing and unseen dog in an exploding kennel, Lucy loses control of some firework-powered rollerskates, while costumes inflate like giant balloons and whoopee cushions expand to gigantic proportions as the audience winces and waits for the inevitable big bangs. Amy Gordon and Jonah Logan are absolutely wonderful as the two fantastic messes, Lucy and Lucky who confront authority, propriety, mortality and each other, charming audiences into gleeful peals of laughter. With the heart of a child but appealing to the soul and mind of an adult, this marvel of comedy, magic, imagination and mayhem is an old-fashioned treat to be shared by all, whether you’re 8 or 80.
