Strunz & FarahFriday, October 26, 2007 – 8:00 p.m.
Come savor the fruits of one of the most unique, enduring, and harmonious musical collaborations in the world of guitar. Performing together since 1979, Jorge Strunz and Ardeshir Farah, originally from Costa Rica and Iran, have crafted an exotic style that celebrates and incorporates the cultural richness of Latin American and Middle Eastern music into their compositions. They infuse their ethnic roots with flamenco, classical, and jazz elements into a highly virtuosic, rhythmic, improvisational and wholly unique sound. In the process they created an entirely new expression for the acoustic guitar that continues to dazzle audiences and influence guitarists around the world. To date, they have sold over a million records worldwide, topped the Billboard World Music charts, won Billboard Music Album of the Year and received a Grammy nomination. Currently touring as a quintet comprised of two acoustic guitars, violin, bass and percussion, Strunz and Farah have distinguished themselves as two of the planet’s most gifted acoustic guitarists. Playing with the swiftness of a desert wind and the burning passion of a gypsy campfire, they are bridging cultures and stunning audiences with their magic, inventiveness and unbelievable playing. Nirvana for lovers of guitar music, they quite simply are two of the very best. For more information visit their website. |
