Under the banner “Forward with Scotland’s Past,” Battlefield Band play contemporary Scottish music — 2000 years in the making — of rare passion and joy. Inspired by their rich heritage of Celtic music and fired by the strength of today’s Scottish cultural scene, Battlefield Band mix the old songs with new material, and perform them on a unique fusion of ancient and modern instruments — bagpipe, fiddle, synthesizer, guitar, cittern, flute, bodhran, and accordion. Having travelled the world’s roads for over 30 years, they have broken down barriers and pioneered many new directions with their wonderful music. Winner of this year’s Scots Trad Music Award for best live act, Battlefield Band is a national treasure in Scotland — the gold standard by which all other bands are measured. Primarily known for their live concerts, despite their prodigious studio output, the band is still piping hot after all these years.
