Ballet Jörgen — AnastasiaSaturday, March 29, 2008 – 8:00 p.m.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Ballet Jörgen has created its largest undertaking to date — a new, full-length production based on the magical story of Russian princess Anastasia. Choreographed by acclaimed artistic director Bengt Jörgen, this work features an original full orchestra score by Canadian-Russian composer Ivan Barbotin, with sets and costumes by renowned designer Sue LePage. To this day, mystery surrounds the fate of Anastasia Romanov, the young daughter of the fallen Russian emperor. It is a tragic story and the subject of modern mythology that has fascinated people for over 90 years. Experience the human drama of a young princess who was born to privilege and cast out into a world of immense heartache. Follow her through the ballrooms of St. Petersburg, the Russian revolution, her captivity, and beyond. One of Canada’s most innovative and prolific companies, Ballet Jörgen is acclaimed nationally and internationally for their award-winning choreography and dancing.
