Long an integral part of the international dance scene, Les ballets jazz de Montréal [bjm_danse] perform a new program featuring the latest work by choreographer Aszure Barton before premiering at the Canada Dance Festival in Ottawa. After presenting nearly 40 shows this season to delighted audiences in Canada, Italy, Korea, Germany, Austria, France, and the United States, bjm_danse will be in Banff to complete Barton’s newest creation, a follow-up to Les Chambres des Jacques, which is currently garnering accolades both nationally and internationally. Artistic director Louis Robitaille invites us on this creative journey with Alberta’s Aszure Barton, one of the rising stars of her generations’ crop of young choreographers. Exploring the latest in contemporary dance trends, bjm_danse and Aszure Barton will fully immerse the dancers in this creation, infusing it with their vitality and distinctiveness. The result is a mosaic that pulls audiences in with its startling originality, irresistible daring, and contagious energy.
