About Mountain Culture at The Banff Centre
Advisory Committee
Mountain Culture at The Banff Centre has enlisted a group of advisors representing a wide range of expertise and geographical representation. Their role is to advise on mandate, strategic planning and critical issues in the mountain community. The committee consists of:
- John Amatt, Canada — founder of the film festival and president of One Step Beyond
- Aldo Audisio, Italy — director of the Museo Nazionale della Montagna in Torino
- Steve Barker, United States — founder and president of Eagle Creek Travel Gear
- Sir Christian Bonington CBE, England — renowned climber, filmmaker, writer
- Catherine Destivelle, France — alpinist
- Robert Sandford, Canada — independent consultant, author, filmmaker

- Hans Gmoser, Canada, 1931–2006 — founder of Canadian Mountain Holidays
- Sir Edmund Hillary, New Zealand, 1919–2008 — first person to climb Mount Everest
