Competition Entry Forms

The 4th Annual Banff Mountain Book Festival, presented by Canadian Mountain Holidays, tonight announced the winners of the international book competition.

The competition attracted a record number of books this year, more than 90 entries from six different countries. The jury was comprised of Canadian Sid Marty, author and past award winner at the Festival; American Steve Roper, climber and award winning author; Briton Maggie Body, past editor for Hodder and Staughton's climbing list; and Italy's Roberto Mantovani, author, journalist and mountaineer. After reading the finalist entries and deliberating for a month, the following winners were announced:

Grand Prize:
Monte Bianco by Stefano Ardito
Published by White Star (Italy), English translation published by The Mountaineers Books (USA)
Award: $1000, sponsored by Adventurous Traveler Bookstore

Mountain Literature:
Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer (U.S.A.)
Published by Villard Books, division of Random House

Mountain Exposition:
