Keoki Flagg, 2002 Banff Mountain Photography Competition
"Big-mountain skiers have vision. They see lines where normal skiers see no viable option. Jeff Holden has built his reputation by making his mark where few if any dare to go.

"On this magical day there were four world-class athletes flying with me in the Chugach range on the Alaskan coast, but only one Holden. He saw this crazy spine and knew that it had to be skied. Never mind the blind entry past a huge overhanging cornice, and breakable crust all the way down. At 58 degrees, his turns brought him face to face with alternating exposures, both potentially deadly. This was a technically delicate line that would tolerate no mistakes. Holden skied it beautifully.

"As I waited for the bird to come pick me up, I looked at Holden’s Line and wondered what some unknowing passerby might make of his tracks.

"Travelling has always been a major force in my life and art. It is my objective not only to capture the faces of other worlds but to show the world through the eyes of my subjects."

Based out of Squaw Valley, California, Keoki Flagg Photographics specializes in adventure travel, extreme sports, and social-demographic portraiture.
