Verena Popp-Hackner and Georg Popp: Floating Leaves

Verena Popp-Hackner and Georg Popp: Floating Leaves

“On an autumn photo trip to Triglav National Park, Slovenia, we were disappointed that most of the beech leaves had already fallen. An unpromising forecast saw us spend the first two days hanging around the deserted campground at Wocheiner Lake. Watching cloudbank after cloudbank come and go, we began to enjoy the mood of late fall and the loneliness of our natural setting. We took this picture on the evening of the second day, attracted by the crystal clear water and the floating leaves. Given the lack of good light, we opted to take a fairly abstract image with the leaves floating through the picture and the rest of the scenery seen only as a mirror image. Despite better weather later, this image was our favourite from that trip.”

Verena Popp-Hackner and Georg Popp are professional photographers specializing in large-format landscape photography. Their work is published in many calendars, magazines and coffee-table books around the world each year. So far they have created two books featuring nature photographs of their home country, Austria. Verena and Georg live in Vienna and have two young daughters, who often accompany them on their extensive travels.
