Darwin Wiggett: Lake Abraham — Winter Sunrise
“The Kootenay Plains, west of Nordegg, are one of my favourite places in Alberta. I have a strong spiritual connection to this landscape which I cannot explain but which pulls me back season after season. I like to share this beautiful area of the Alberta Rockies with others and I do yearly photographic workshops along the Kootenay Plains. On the winter 2007 trip, we were blessed with a glowing warm light show over the cool blue patterns of ice on Lake Abraham. The wind was howling, and all the photographers had to hunker low and wear ice cleats to prevent being blown across the ice. I struggled to keep my tripod upright and steady between wind gusts but managed to get a sharp shot that communicated the mood of the light that day. ”
