Brandon Hauser: Forever Reaching
“My buddy and I went hiking into a place called the brickyards in Santa Barbara, California. I noticed this particular spot and found the rock formation very interesting. The only problem was that the rock was in shadow. I used a flash to light the front of the rock and was ultimately hoping that the lighting direction would match that of the sun. I used a second flash behind the climber to fill in the rest of the shadows. I used a slower shutter speed, about a tenth of a second, to create some motion. Camera: Canon 5D, Lens: Tamron 17, 35mm, f 2.8.”
“I graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in December 2007 and moved to Juneau, Alaska. I’m originally from New Hampshire and have an amazing family. Everyday I find that my drive to create astounding images becomes stronger. I feel that photographers see the world differently and attempt to become aware of life on an alternate level. I will never lose the innocence and dangerously inventive power of a child’s heart. I want to travel, work, and live fully submerged within this earth. Alaska has provided me with some intense stomping grounds.”
