Randall Levensaler: Bald Rock
“Growing up at the base of Sequoia National Park and spending countless hours exploring the Sierras has had a significant role in developing my eye and intuition as a photographer, and instilled in me a life-long passion for mountain regions throughout the world. This photograph of a glacial erratic and dwarf pine came into focus after I had thoroughly studied the surrounding landscape and started to eliminate other elements from the composition. After narrowing down the elements I arrived at the composition that best portrayed my feelings about the place. I tend to capture vignettes of a larger natural scene. I believe it provides the viewer with a deeper understanding and a more intimate connection to the landscape.”
Based in Boulder, Colorado, for the past eight years, Randall Levensaler has quick access to the wild places of the Western landscape. His work has been published worldwide and in gallery shows in North America and Japan. He is currently represented by Aurora Photos.
