Marq de Villiers is the recipient of the 1999 Governor General’s literary award for his book Water. He is presently editorial director of Where Magazine International and past publisher of Toronto Life Magazine. He is the author of several other nonfiction books including The Heartbreak Grape, Into Africa: A Journey through the Ancient Empires, White Tribe Dreaming and Down the Volga. He lives in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
