
Guillermo Rebosio Arana is a Peruvian economist with 15 years experience in the
rural development field. His work has dealt with analysis of
public policies and management of development projects, with
considerable research experience in issues like food
security, poverty, sustainable development and environment,
among others.
He has published many books in these fields, such as
"Peru: Towards a Food Security Strategy for the Next
Millennium" (1999) and "Peasants income and public
purchases of food in Peru" (2001), also contributing to
economic magazines and newpapers.
He joined the Center of Research, Education and
Development (CIED in Spanish), a Peruvian NGO, in 1997 to
work in project design, planning, technical support,
monitoring and reporting. In the years since 1990, he has
also occasionally acted as advisor to the Peruvian Congress.
Since 2001, he has been the Technical Advisor of the
Agualtiplano Project, a virtual information centre about the
water resources in the South American highlands (shared by
Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina), working in the
monitoring and analysis of the reform in water legislation
in the four countries. This project, managed by CIED with
the financial support of IDRC, aims to promote the efficient
management of water resources, the defense of indigenous
water rights and the protection of the highland ecosystems
in the four countries.
