George Schneider
George Schneider is Water Resource Manager, Seattle Public Utilities,
responsible for a 16-person unit of civil engineers,
fisheries biologists, and other technical staff who develop
and manage the water supply, reservoir, and river operations
for the Greater Metropolitan Seattle area. He is responsible
for supply source utilization and river management
decisions, including overseeing an extensive network of data
collection, including: stream gauges, snow stations and
weather stations. Mr. Schneider leads discussions and
negotiations with agencies, tribes, and other organizations
concerning water supply, fish and wildlife resource
protection, flood control and drought strategies, and
manages the development and application of computer models
and decision support systems (DSS) used to manage, plan and
operate the water supply system, including distribution and
transmission networks.
