Barry Worbets
Mr. Worbets holds a Bachelor of Science from the University
of Alberta and a Masters of Environmental Design from the
University of Calgary. Prior to joining the Canada West
Foundation, Mr. Worbets provided environmental advice to
numerous Canadian corporations, foundations and
non-governmental organizations. In over 25 years in the oil
and gas sector, he developed extensive practical knowledge
of key public policy issues facing the resource sector,
including environmental and social governance,
energy/environmental policy, land use management, regulatory
reform, public consultation and facilitation, climate
change, sour gas/acid rain, and animal and human health.
Through his leadership, companies have achieved national
recognition and top-quartile environmental health and safety
performance. In 2001, the Alberta Emerald Foundation for
Environmental Excellence recognized Mr. Worbets for his
corporate leadership. He is a board member/ volunteer for
several non-profit organizations including the Nature
Conservancy of Canada, SEEDS Foundation and Calgary Parks
Foundation, as well as being active on several community
organizations.
