Mountains as Water Towers Opening Evening

The Banff
Mountain Summit 2003 opening presentation included special guest Maude Barlow, National Chairperson of The Council of Canadians, Canada's
largest public advocacy organization. The evening continued with special Aboriginal dance performances by
Alex Wells and Lisa Odjig - world champion hoop
dancers, followed by welcoming words from other special guests, and
the official "Whose Water is it?" book launch and reception.

Special Presentation Evening
A
special evening of music
performances and multi-media presentations with Canadian singer, and songwriter Sid Marty celebrating water's life giving
powers accompanied by David Wilkie (mandolin) and Bill Eaglesham (bass). Followed by
a presentatation of
"Sacred Water - An accidental pilgrimage down the Ganges
River" with Maria Coffey
and Dag Goering
(read more). Dag Goering, acclaimed professional
photographer, also had a breath-taking photo exhibition on display in the Max Bell lobby entitled, “Sacred Water - The Ganges, a gift from the
Himalaya”. To conclude the evening, Mark Angelo took us on a journey with his slide presentation entitled "Riverworld - A personal journey to
the world’s wildest waters and places”, a dramatic look at some of the outstanding rivers throughout the world, from both a conservation and
adventure perspective

Special Water Films Screening

A special film screening by
the Banff Mountain Film Festival included an evening of splashes and
thrills, showing some of our greatest water adventure films, and
water-issues productions. As a special feature, Ms. Moleski's grade
six class from Banff Elementary joined Dr. Don Waite of Environment
Canada in a musical look at climate change.
