2007-2008 Online Contest Winner Plans Trip to Nepal
Dustin Owen is a 27 year old graduate student from Nashville, Tennessee. When not hitting the books, he’s hitting the trails on his mountain bike or paddling Tennessee’s many rivers in his kayak. He also enjoys hiking, camping, and fly fishing.
With a love for experiencing new cultures and environments, Dustin is no stranger to world travel. “My favorite trip so far was traveling through Peru. While there I was able to visit Machu Picchu and experience the Andean culture.” Trekking in Nepal is at the top of his short list of dream trips, but he “never really expected to be able to go.” Thanks to World Expeditions, Dustin is on his way!
Dustin takes in the Banff Mountain Film Festival when it stops in Nashville as part of the North American tour every year. His favourite films from the 2007/08 tour included the 2007 Best Film on Mountain Sport, 20 Seconds of Joy¸ and the Radical Reels People’s Choice award-winner, Trial & Error. “I thought 20 Seconds of Joy was amazing not only in camera perspective and beautiful locations,” says Dustin, “but also getting an up close look at an athlete that takes such chances and seeing the sacrifices they make in order to live out their dreams.”
