Marianne Trudel

Piano, Canada
Jazz Orchestra Workshop
Jazz Composers Residency

The inspiration and artistic motivation Montreal pianist Marianne Trudel takes away from the Hugh Fraser Jazz Orchestra Workshop keeps her coming back year after year! A promising new talent on the Canadian jazz scene who has just released her first CD, Trudel is an equally impressive performer in jazz, improvised, and world music. Also a capable composer and arranger, Marianne arrived at The Banff Centre a few days early this year to take part in the inaugural Banff Jazz Composer’s Residency.

After receiving many rounds of enthusiastic applause for her piano solos during sold-out Jazz Orchestra Concert performances at the 2005 Banff Summer Arts Festival, it’s no wonder Trudel has so many wonderful things to say about the Banff jazz Orchestra program. Upon leaving Banff, Trudel remarked that “once again, the Jazz Orchestra Workshop was one of the most inspiring and thrilling experiences during the year.”

Marianne has composed and arranged music for numerous ensembles, as well as for radio shows and film. She is currently pursuing graduate studies in Ethnomusicology at the University of Montreal.
