Music & Sound Building

Built in 1996, the building was designed around a landscaped plaza and brings the natural beauty of the surrounding environment inside. The studios, Rolston Recital Hall and the Bentley Chamber Music Studio are bathed in natural light and are open to spectacular mountain views. A percussion studio with a full range of instruments is available to complement those brought by percussionists. Over 50 private practice studios are located in the building and around the campus with 43 grand pianos available to participants of Music & Sound programs.

Luscar Recording Studio and Control Room

This is the primary recording/mixing studio with a Euphonix CS-3000, 56 channel digitally controlled analogue console with 32X8 Cube for surround mixing and full automation and a 24-track digital recorder. Linked to all audio and video production areas by audio, video, time-code video sync, speaker, and intercom tie lines with a good selection of outboard gear and professional microphones. The studio is 450 sq. ft.

This is a 1600 sq. ft. live space in a variable acoustic environment, linked to all audio and video production areas.

Rice Audio For Video Post Production Suite

Control room linked to all audio and video production areas. Isolated Narration/Voice-Over booth. Includes a Yamaha DM-2000 digital console, Digidesign ProTools HD, and a variety of processing equipment.

The Rolston Recital Hall

The beautiful 200 seat Rolston Recital Hall is located in the Music & Sound Building and looks out at the picturesque Mount Rundle. The seating configuration can be changed to accommodate different ensemble settings so seating is general admission. Depending on the set up, some seats are flat on the floor, and some are on risers.
