Welcome. We in the Jazz and Creative Music workshop are proud to participate in the continuum of great music at The Banff Centre. For over 30 years, this program has engaged creative artists in exploring the past as it creates the future. It has always been a unique opportunity to focus on new music in a magnificent environment with a fantastic group of people and enthusiastic audiences.

This season will be my sixth as the director of this program. If I have learned anything while doing this it has been about how to best facilitate the work of creative musicians and to open up to the possibilities that are within each of us. That’s what this program is all about, and we look forward to sharing that energy and passion for music with you.

Thanks for joining us. Banff is something you simply won’t find elsewhere. I hope you enjoy the 2008 season and that it brings new and wonderful discoveries for all of us.
