Todd Babiak's first novel, Choke Hold (Turnstone), was published in 2000. It won the Writers Guild of Alberta Henry Kreisel Award for Best First Book and was shortlisted for the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize. His second novel is tentatively titled Small. Babiak is an entertainment writer at the Edmonton Journal.
