The essay in the Banff anthology, "Word Carving", became part of Riding with Rilke: Reflections on Motorcycles and Books (Viking/Penguin), which was a finalist for the Governor General's Award in Non-fiction, the Drainie-Taylor Biography Prize, and winner of the MAX Award (Motorcycle Awards of Excellence), as well as being named one of the Globe and Mail's Best Books of 2005. Ted Bishop has also won second prize for travel literature in the 2003 CBC Literary Awards for a shortened version of the essay in this collection.
