Julie Burtinshaw is a freelance writer and novelist. She lives with her family in Vancouver, British Columbia. She earned critical praise for her innovative debut novel, Dead Reckoning (Raincoast Books, 2004), a tale of nautical disaster told from the point of view of the doomed ship Valencia on its voyage from San Francisco to Victoria. She has since published two more books, Adrift (Raincoast Books, 2002) and Romantic Ghost Stories (Ghost House, 2004).
