Contributor Banff Centre Press
David Carpenter was born and raised in Edmonton and lives in Saskatoon, where he writes full time. His first book was a translation of Georges Bugnet’s novel, La Foret. His early works of fiction were published in Saturday Night, which were followed by three books of novellas and short stories, and one novel, Banjo Lessons, which won the City of Edmonton Book Prize (1998). His literary essays are collected in Writing Home (1994) and his personal essays in Courting Saskatchewan, which won the Saskatchewan Book Award for nonfiction in 1997. For a long time he wrote poetry at the rate of one or two poems per year. Most of these were published in Trout Stream Creed (2003). His novella, The Ketzer, has just been released. He lives with the artist, Honor Kever, his wife since 1990. They spend the warmer months up north in a cabin they built with the help of their friends. In the mornings he writes; in the evening, he fishes.
