Born in Vancouver in 1940, Gary Geddes has spent much of his life writing and teaching, mostly at Concordia University in Montreal. He has published more than thirty-five volumes of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, drama, translation, and criticism, including several anthologies. His work has been broadcast on CBC and BBC radio, translated into seven languages, and received numerous national and international awards. Sailing Home, a floating memoir, was a coast-to-coast bestseller in 2001; Skaldance, a new book of poems, sold out in less than three weeks in 2004 and had to be reprinted. His non-fiction work-in-progress, KINGDOM OF TEN THOUSAND THINGS: The Search for An Asian Marco Polo, which took him to Kabul two weeks before 9/11, is due out in 2005.
