Genni Gunn

Genni Gunn is a writer, musician, and translator. Born in Italy, she came to Canada when she was eleven. She has published seven books: two novels, two short story collections, one poetry collection, and an opera libretto, which is in production with Chant Libres (Montreal) and will premier in Vienna and in Montreal in September 2005. As well, she has translated from Italian two collections of poems by the renowned Italian author, Dacia Maraini. Gunn has been a finalist for numerous literary prizes, including the Commonwealth Prize, the Gerald Lampert Poetry Award, the Journey Prize, the John Glassco Translation Award, and the Premio Internazionale Diego Valeri for translation. Gunn has a B.F.A. and a M.F.A. from the University of British Columbia. She is Second Vice-Chair of The Writers’ Union of Canada (2004-2005) and a member of The Literary Translators Association of Canada, and PEN International. She lives in Vancouver.
