Contributor Banff Centre Press

Robert Kroetsch was born in the mixed farming area of Central Alberta in 1927. That geography was for him a book of knowledge; the Canadian North of the Northwest Territories and Labrador tested his theories of experience. He attended the University of Alberta, then Middlebury College in Vermont, then the University of Iowa. He was for seventeen years a professor of English at the State University of New York in Binghamton, then professor of English at the University of Manitoba for another seventeen years. He has won numerous literary prizes. He has a daughter living in St. Petersburg, Florida, and a daughter living in Wellington, New Zealand. He is retired and lives in Winnipeg with the professor and writer Dawne McCance.
