Banff Midsummer Ball—Under the Northern Sky, July 20-22, 2007

The 2007 Banff Midsummer Ball Weekend celebrated the Canadian North. The theme was derived from several inspirations, including the world premiere of Frobisher, the powerful new Canadian opera co-commissioned by The Banff Centre and the Calgary Opera. 2007 also marked the 60th Anniversary of Dance at The Banff Centre. As a tribute to this Diamond Anniversary of Dance, guests had an opportunity to bid on a one-carat diamond—donated J. Vair Anderson Jewellers—at Saturday’s Gala Ball silent auction.

Saturday’s optional activities featured golf at Canmore’s world-class SilverTip Golf Resort and a myriad of unique Banff Centre-based adventures, including a Creative Clay workshop, guided Eco-Walk, and Behind-the-Scenes Tour of The Banff Centre.

The crowning glory of the weekend was Saturday’s Gala Ball, featuring an opening ballet performance from artists-in-residence, a 5-course gourmet meal by The Banff Centre’s award winning chef Beat Hegnauer, an extraordinary silent auction, and dancing to the Eric Friedenberg Orchestra.

On Sunday, guests gathered at the home of President and CEO, Mary E. Hofstetter, for a sumptuous brunch overlooking the Bourgeau Mountain range.
