Mountain Culture programming at The Banff Centre promotes understanding and appreciation of the world’s mountain places by creating opportunities for people to share – and find inspiration in – mountain experiences, ideas and visions.

11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. ~ The Intuitive Image: Digital Photography Exploration with Craig Richards

This interactive session uses the medium of digital photography as a powerful and playful tool for exploring the art of making sense. Every day we are bombarded with countless images but rarely do we have a chance to actively create our own. The Intuitive Image experiments with the concept that aesthetic skills – paying attention, personalizing, crafting – can help us make sense of complex situations. Under the guidance of Master Photographer Craig Richards, participants will work in small groups creating a series of studio photographs using light, innovative camera techniques, curiosity, and heart. Note: Participants will need to bring their own digital camera.
