Each year The Banff Centre hosts a small handful of events aimed at raising funds to support talented artists from across Canada and around the world.

Scholarships provided through these events are essential for many artists—in the areas of music and sound, opera, dance, theatre, literary arts, media and visual arts—to afford educational programs at the professional level.

Scholarship contributors have a transformative impact on the lives and careers of these talented emerging and established artists. Over one third of the musicians in the philharmonic orchestras of Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Toronto are Banff Centre alumni, as are 25 per cent of dancers in the National Ballet of Canada and 50 per cent of dancers in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

“To have the opportunity to live in the creative environment of The Banff Centre — a complete immersion in the creative process without distraction — and to work with the resources I need to explore as an artist, was a gift.”

Allen Kaeja, artistic director of KAEJA d’DANCE, dance alumnus
