Martine Époque, who specializes in choreography for both stage and
screen, was the recipient of the 1983 Clifford E. Lee Choreography Award
for for which she created Constellation 1. Born in Six-Fours les
Plages, France, Époque's training as a dancer, choreographer and
instructor led her to Switzerland, Paris, Quebec and Michigan. In 1995,
she was president of the Regroupement Québecois de la Danse, Since 1991,
she has spent a total of seven years as the director of the Dance
Department at L' Université de Québec à Montréal, working as an instructor
and choreographer. Époque has created over 80 original works of dance
choreography, which have been performed and/or aired on television in
Canada, Brazil, Cuba, Germany, Belgium, France, the United States and
China.

She has worked extensively in a
multimedia capacity, creating works that straddle the boundaries of dance,
music, photography and film. Her accomplishments have been widely
celebrated: she received awards of distinction by both the UQAM and the
Salon de la Danse (1984); she won The Banff Centre's Clifford E. Lee
Choreography Award (1983); and was awarded the Prix du Québec (1994). Époque
is currently an instructor in the dance department at the Université de
Québec à Montréal.
