Facilities

A standard* painting studio has walls averaging 20 feet (width) by 12 feet (height), offering the possibility for large scale work. An additional resource is the Sculpture Studio. This studio is equipped with stationary and portable power tools for the construction of stretcher frames and other painting supports (easels are not provided by the residency program). Wood can be purchased locally.
*All studios have unique dimensions. Studio requests and allocations are contingent on availability. Please state specific studio requests in your Application Package project proposal and resource request forms.

Equipment

There is no local source for professional quality painting or drawing materials.  When possible, it is recommended that artists ship or bring their painting/drawing materials to the residency program.  Many painting and drawing supplies can be ordered from the city Calgary (1 ½ hours by car); these materials should be ordered prior to arrival in Banff.  Please refer to the suppliers link to make arrangements for ordering and shipping supplies.  For more information please contact the Print & Paper Facilitator.
